What is Pergamano?
Pergamano is the brand name for the large assortment
of materials, tools, books and courses used for
parchment craft. This craft is practiced by tracing
patterns on transparent parchment paper and then
embossing, colouring, painting, perforating, cutting,
etc. the paper
With parchment paper you can create greeting
cards, mural decorations, boxes, lampshades, bookmarks,
realistic flowers and other works of art. One
can also embroider on this paper.
History...
Parchment craft goes back to the earliest days
of written text. It began with devotional pictures
painted on cards that later evolved into painted
cards with embellished hand decorated borders.
In the 19th century, especially in France, the
pictures became more romantic and they started
working with relief and three-dimensional effects.
In 1988 Martha Ospina brought the parchment craft
to Europe and together with a number of other
people created the Pergamano parchment craft trademark.
Pergamano develops and markets all parchment craft
equipment.
This art is promoted throughout the world by
training tutors who are issued certificates regarding
there competency.
Is Pergamano difficult to master?
Pergamano is practiced by 6 year old children
as well as persons of 80 years and older. It is
not difficult, but requires a good deal of consentration.
This makes it a very therapeutic hobby. To be
successful in this art it is important to apply
the prescribed techniques correctly.
Tools and materials used to do Pergamano:
Mapping pen and nib, embossing and perforating
tools and pads, white pencil, Pergamano scissors.
To add colour to your projects five mediums are
used, namely Tinta inks, Pintura paints, Dorso
colours, Perga colours, Perga Liners.
